The catalog has begun

By cwatson - Posted on 12 February 2008

Lots of changes since the last entry.  For starters, I changed the theme because the old one was misbehaving with some of the views.  This one looks a little better, anyway.  More attractive.  And that's important.

Continuing, I've also combined the location of the text-only subject listings with the zine catalog pages for searching ease.  It's still minimal in content, but the structure is in place to input our entire catalog.  Take a minute to browse through the zines that are online already.  The way they appear is about as thorough as we'll be getting for a while, though the page layout might change slightly if I take the time to learn a little CSS.

In the meantime, we're looking for volunteers to review zines for us.  If you're interested, contact me through the form at the bottom of the menu, or come into the main library, level 2, and ask for me (Clint) at the reference desk.  It's easy, fun, and mostly safe.  All that is required is that you grab a stack of zines, read as much as you need to get a sense of the content, and scribble 2 or 3 sentences describing them in our online webform.   After that, you'll bring the zines to me to be scanned and published online.

Enjoy, all, and as always drop me a suggestion or two.

Peace,
Clint

If you need help with coding in addition to cataloging, give a hollar.  While no expert, I am becoming more proficient in the art of css and blogging and just made an amazing page over @ saltcycle.com.
