Zine Submission Form Fields - An Explanation

Each of the fields on the zine submission form are fairly self explanatory.  The following is a clearly elaborated explanation of what we hope to collect from each field and, when necessary, the purpose for our including it.

Go to the zine submission form

Title: Enter the title exactly as it appears on the zine, INCLUDE any instances of 'a', 'an', or 'the' at the beginning of the title.  Introduce subtitles with a semicolon.

Picture: Leave this to be completed by zine collection staff.

Vol/Iss/Date: Enter anything that indicates a volume number, issue number, or other series key.  This includes dates like “march”, “2003”, or “Spring 2003”.

Categories:

-Title: Select the title from the dropdown list.  If the title doesn’t appear, make a note for the zine collection staff to update it.

-Tags: Enter as many tags as you can imagine to describe the zine.  If the zine is one of a serial title (28 Pages Lovingly Bound with Twine, for example) use tags that describe that specific issue as specifically as you can.  It might be a good idea to look at the list of tags to get an idea of how other people think about this process, but don’t be afraid to be creative.  These can be altered later if necessary so be bold.

Author/Editor/Publisher: Many zines do not include any of this information.  If it is nowhere to be found, don’t worry about it.  If it is included input it in the format: First Name, Middle, Last.

Contact Info: This field is for physical address information, a.k.a. snail mail.  Many zine types still prefer correspondence in this way.  Phone numbers belong in this field, too.

Email/Website: Self-explanatory.  Include all incidents of an electronic communication route (multiple websites, myspace/facebook/livejournal pages, etc.) In order to filter these as hyperlinks, if a web address DOES NOT begin with www, make sure that you precede it with http://

Description: Describe the zine in 2 or 3 sentences in natural language.  Everyone is served best if this field is reserved for as objective a description as possible: what is the zine about?  What formats does it contain (arts, poetry, essay, lists, etc.)? Who is the intended audience?  Please reserve opinions for the “Comments” field.

Comments: This field is optional.  Should you feel strongly one way or another about any particular zine, feel free to express it here.  Courteously, please.

Date Received: This field applies only to new materials.  Input format is numbers only, mm.yyyy

Price (if applicable): If the zine has a price printed anywhere in it, put it here.  Input format is numbers only (the computer adds the dollar sign.)

Reviewer Name: Your name.

Log Message: leave this blank.
